VSSEC-NASA Australian Space Prize

The VSSEC-NASA Australian Space Prize offers an Australian university student the opportunity to attend one of three NASA Academies or participate in a NASA affiliated summer program.

Aerion Technologies was contracted to design and develop a system that would enable the competition to be judged online. The The VSSEC-NASA Australian Space Prize system was developed using the cakePHP framework and is described below:

The The VSSEC-NASA Australian Space Prize system provides reviewers quick and easy access to download, review and mark theses. Each reviewer, once they have been approved by the admin, are able to download a thesis, record marks for that thesis in each of the 5 categories and also leave comments. At the end of the review period the admin selects a category winner. If multiple winners are selected the theses will go into a second round review process.

Once the top thesis in each category has been selected, NASA views the top five theses and decides the overall winner for the VSSEC-NASA Australian Space Prize.
